A drinking competition is a lot more fun when everyone can follow along. With Bar Battle’s public scoreboard you can open up your event’s live standings to supporters, participants and the whole crowd: no passing your phone around, no reading scores off the bar. Make the scoreboard public with a single tap, share a link or a QR code, and anyone can watch the standings update in real time. Here’s how it works.
Make it public in one tap
As the organiser (admin) you decide whether an event is public. Open the scoreboard and tap the share button, or go to Settings → Sharing. Bar Battle generates a unique, hard-to-guess code for your event and, with it, three ways to share:
- A shareable link:
https://barbattle.app/public/<code>. Drop it in a group chat or post it on your socials. - A QR code: ideal for a poster, a flyer or a screen at the venue. People scan it straight from their phone camera.
- A short code: easy to read out loud or type, handy to pass on in person or over chat.
What viewers see
Open the link or scan the QR code and the live standings appear right away: every team ranked by score, updating in real time as the bar staff add drinks. Viewers can pull down to refresh whenever they want. It’s exactly the standings you see behind the bar, just read-only.
Do viewers need the app or an account?
No account, but yes, the free Bar Battle app. The public link opens the scoreboard right inside the app. If a visitor doesn’t have Bar Battle yet, the link automatically sends them to the App Store or Google Play to install it first. So there’s nothing to sign up for: anyone can watch with the free app.
Read-only by design
Viewers get read-only access. They can follow the live standings, but they can’t change scores, manage teams or add products: that stays firmly with the organiser and the approved participants. So you can share the board as widely as you like without any risk of someone messing with the numbers.
You stay in control
Because only the admin can make an event public, you decide exactly when the board goes live. Switch it back to private with one tap and the link stops working immediately: the public scoreboard shows an “unavailable” state and nobody can reach it anymore. Perfect for opening the standings up during the event and closing them again afterwards.
Perfect for on location
Print the QR code on a poster next to the bar, drop it on your welcome slide, or paste the link into the event chat. The more people who can watch the standings climb, the harder the teams go.
Want the standings on a big screen in the room as well? That’s a separate feature: see live scoreboard on the big screen. For the full picture of everything Bar Battle does, check the homepage or the FAQ.
